another portion

as the day goes on i remember things i forgot to mention:

Kheltan trying to throw my teddy bear, Brison, out the window of the car...

Visiting the house from Goonies and eating blackberries for breakfast before admiring the view of the river and the "long assed bridge"

hiking to the top of "the Column"... by the time i reached the top i was so tired of stairs. I took one step onto the landing and my knees gave way under me. The view was really pretty but i'll never again feel the need to walk up there, assuming i ever find myself in Astoria again.  Walking down was almost as fun 'cause Vel isn't comfortable on stairs so I walked right in front of her and Khel walked right behind her and we slowly made our way down those stupid friggin steps...

MA and Khel climbing the rock wall... I don't know what it is about those two but they felt the need to climb everything in sight. First they climbed the redwood cross section, then they climbed the rock wall... there were other things as well but they slip my mind.  It was so funny though, when MA had repelled to the ground again he turned to us and asked if we'd gotten pictures of anything besides his butt. I'll never know as my camera played a dirty trick on me and didn't take a single picture.

On Thursday I got up early and went with caly grocery shopping. Actually, at first i left her alone and wandered off to find a fabric pen and an ATM and having aquired both, returned to Safeway where i took one look at her cart and started diplomatically exchanging the contents.  And i did not chase the bagger away. I merely encouraged him to leave and then told his replacement that i had everything under control. I did too.  I've been through bagging school, and i worked at a Safeway and i can tell you their training is not nearly sufficient.  As Kelanin would say, most of them do a completely half [arsed] job of it.

groceries properly bagged, we returned home and... uh... made breakfast i think. But it was more of a make your own breakfast kinda deal and i finally figured out how Caly's shower works. It's backwards. When you're expecting cold water it doesn't surprise you but i knew the water had to be warm by then and discovered that you had to turn it to the cold side to get warm water. go figure. Fortunately i commented on this before DK went to take a shower so she didnt have to take another icy one. *glouts @ Caly*

Thursday was a great day. Late morning/early afternoon was slow and lethargic with Caly, MA, DK, and Mori off to see the town some more and the rest of us sitting around watching anime. Then someone noticed it was sunny outside so Khel and I went outside to enjoy the weather and one by one everyone else trickled outside until we were all lined up on the porch steps. Apparently when the other group got home they were afraid we'd all locked ourselves out. They're silly.

It was almost time to go to the beach (we'd checked the phone book to find low tide) so we quickly thereafter loaded back into the cars. By this time people no longer asked "who's gonna be in which car?" 'cause everyone knew Vel, Khel, MA and i were in Freak One.

When we got to the beach we were confused as to wear to park so MA hopped out and used his reported "charm" on an older woman watering her garden and attained permission for us to park infront of her car. Kelanin stole the walkie talkie long enough to call out "Master Andra, you're my hero."

We had fun scrambling over the rocks to reach the haystack. The barnecals were a pain though. Jarihn's wrong, being barefoot didn't hurt, it just meant you could cut straight through the water instead of trying to find the shallowest path to keep your leather boots dry.  Jarihn went off exploring and completely missed all the signs that said "Restricted area beyond this sign, do not pass" which is amazing to me 'cause there were so many of them. Of course, they were all edged in white which Khel and MA explained meant they're only suggestions.

By the time we all reached the beach again we couldn't figure out where Caly and Jarihn had run off to so we just started walking. I finally got to spend time with my li'l bro, Mori, who is just extremely cool.  Vel says he talks more in real life which surprised me 'cause he almost never said anything when we were all together as a group but I guess i've spent more time talking to him online.

*checks her day planner which really doubles as a diary* what else did we do?  you've all heard about the rock pounding, building, destroying, and the "Freak Out 2000" picture taking. It was really funny listening to people walk by that carved in the sand. Vel and i spent some time staring up at the cliffs "admiring the scenery" and picking beach houses we could live in. We also reasoned that we could actually afford a beach house in Oregon.

Most of us were tired and ready to go but DK, Kel, and jarihoo insisted on sitting on the beach trying to untangle the kite strings for an eternity. If Caly had had the keys to her car we'd probably have left them there 'cause they were taking so long...

Home again home again, MA and Don ran off, and Caly went to bed so the rest of us stayed up talking through the wee hours. I think Vel and Khel were the last to drop off around 4 or 5am.  And I was falling asleep at a friend's birthday party today so i think i'm gonna finally get some sleep.  I was exhausted before the trip, now i'm so tired i'm on the other side of incoherent.
